About the Artist

Hi, my name is Zandra Yashie Hill. I am Zuni Red Running the Water People and born for Many Goats. I was born in Ganado, Arizona, and raised in Gallup, New Mexico.

I grew up in a Christian home where we often hosted missionaries for Vacation Bible School. During one of those visits, I learned how to crochet as a child. I didn’t pick it up again until 2020, when COVID had us staying home except for essential trips. Wanting something creative to focus on, I returned to crochet and that’s where this journey truly began.

At first, I didn’t want to make only blankets. I saw so many unique and unexpected things being crocheted, and that inspired me to explore beyond the traditional. That’s when my creativity really took off.

Today, I create bold, playful, and sometimes exotic crochet pieces that bring humor and personality into everyday life. I enjoy a good challenge even if it takes me a while to finish, I love the process and the growth that comes with it. I’m excited to share my work with you and hope my creations bring a smile to your face.
